Charities 4: Worthwhile
Cartoon Description
Various people dressed up in ridiculous costumes in order to
raise money for various charities are each holding a piece of
card that read respectively ‘Humiliationathon’,
Disempowerathon, and ‘Patronisathon’. On the opposite side
are two disabled people. One is a white woman in a self
propelled wheelchair and the other is an Asian male carrying a
suitcase which has ‘Organisation of disabled people’ printed on
it. They are both smartly dressed and are holding a card that
reads ‘disabled people’s event’. A white ‘do-gooder’ type of
woman is standing between the two groups beneath a sign that
reads ‘Community hall – fully accessible venue’. She is saying
to the disabled people: “I’m afraid that we have to give priority to
the more credible disability causes!”
