Funding 4: Hoopla
Cartoon Description
This cartoon shows the large coloured hooped symbol of the Olympic
games hovering above the ground in front of a group of Disabled
people. Golden pound note symbols are floating to the ground after
passing over the heads of the Disabled people and through the hoops
of the Olympic symbol. In the front of the group a young white
wheelchair user with purple hair, wearing a dark purple top and blue
jeans is holding an application form for arts funding. Behind the wheel
chair user is a deaf woman with ‘Def Arts’ printed on the front of her
orange top There is also a blind Asian man in a yellow top with a guide
dog at his feet and behind him a white woman in a purple top with an
arm held in the air above her head trying to catch the money. In the
front of the group is a white man of restricted growth with ‘short arts’
printed on his green t-shirt. On the other side of the symbol is a white
man in a grey business suit. He is holding a pound note symbol and is
gesticulating to the Disabled people. He is also saying to them: “I
thought you people would be used to jumping through hoops by now!”
