What's New from Crippen
This month there is a new collection of cartoons in the 'Health' section of the gallery. Aside from this, most of Crippen's recent work has been focussed on his new blog. He's also created many new politically cartoons in support of the various groups and organisations of disabled people who are fighting against the CONDEM's benefit cuts. You can see some of these on the 'Welfare Warfare' section of this web site.
Socialist Health Association
As part of the campaign against the cuts to the National Health Service, Crippen has been engaged to create some cartoons about the issues being raised. As usual, these cartoons get straight to the heart of the debate and leave his fans with no doubt as to what he thinks about the current slash and burn tactics of the CONDEMs. You can view these new cartoons in the 'Health' series of cartoons in the main cartoon gallery.
Disabled People Against Cuts - DPAC
Crippen continues his involvement with the groups and organisations of disabled people who are campaigning throughout the UK in protest against the cuts to welfare benefits and the scapegoating of disabled people. He is one of the co-founders of the Disabled People Against Cuts DPAC organisation and has recently created a logo for the group as well as supplying political cartoons for the DPAC blog.
Disability History Month
Crippen has also been chosen to be the in-house cartoonist for the Disability History Month organisation. This organisation has successfully campaigned for the month of November each year to be designated the Disability History month and will be celebrated throughout the UK, similiar to the way that Black people in the UK celebrate their own history. Currently over 20 new cartoons have been created for this along with several strip cartoons explaining the concept of barriers within society. A new 'Disability History' section to the site will follow.
Black Triangle
Crippen has also been commissioned to create some cartoons for the Black Triangle campaigning group of disabled people. Several of the cartoons can be seen on the Welfare Warfare section of the Crippen gallery.
Inclusion London
Crippen has been asked to create some cartoons for the London based organisation 'Inclusion London'. These can be viewed on the Inclusion London web site.
Crippen on tour
Having had a succesful showing of his work in Belfast during October 2010, Crippen has been asked to visit several other organisations of disabled people in the UK. His next venture in December will be to a resource centre in London for people who have learning difficulties where he will be encouraging participants to create their own cartoons. He's also hoping to get down to the West country in the Spring and visit Disability Cornwall who have adopted Crippen as their in-house cartoonist (they've also named an accessible WC after him!). If you would like Crippen to visit your organisation then please contact him via email
